Introducing Neveridle BBQ

If you’re here, chances are you already know that not all barbecue is created equal. There’s a world of difference between meat that’s been rushed through an oven with a squeeze of liquid smoke, and meat that’s spent twelve hours over real wood, tended by someone who actually cares about the bark, the smoke ring, and the wait.

That difference is basically the whole reason this blog exists.

Who we are

We’re two mates – Andy and Anthony – who got a little too obsessed with low-and-slow barbecue for our own good. Andy’s the one with the custom 120-gallon offset smoker in the garden, the oak-fired briskets, and the Aaron Franklin-inspired rabbit hole he’s been falling down for years. Anthony’s the willing accomplice – taste-tester, day-trip passenger, two-time Texas pilgrim, and the one keeping the tech side of this site running.

Why we’re doing this

Good barbecue in the UK is out there – but it’s not always easy to find, and it’s often buried under a lot of noise: places calling themselves “smokehouses” that have never seen real wood smoke, and genuinely brilliant spots that don’t get the attention they deserve. We wanted somewhere honest to point people toward the real stuff – the joints doing it properly, the pitmasters who deserve the recognition, and the hidden gems worth a detour.

We’ve spent years chasing that search around the UK, and made the pilgrimage to Texas – twice – to taste what the benchmark actually looks like. This blog is where we bring that all together.

What to expect

Honest, detailed reviews of BBQ joints across the UK, scored against a proper methodology built on what actually matters – the cook, the authenticity, the sides, the value. Trip write-ups, the odd bit of home-smoking content from Andy’s own pit, and hopefully a decent dose of the obsession that got us here in the first place.

Grab a napkin. This might get messy.
